Success Stories This horse was shod tightly on all four with pads in the front. he stumbled, mainly in the back, had very contracted hooves and various metabolic problems. Picture on left May 2004, right one year later
Spring 2006 he is ridden on trails and over fences and does not stumble anymore. First trim on Wednesday, owners comments from Saturday: The photo on the left is what we used to look like... Not always, but most of the time... And it wasn't like I was yanking my horse in the mouth, he just always did this head shaking in the trot and the ears were always back too. On the right a photo from today's ride... What a difference!! I just thought, it was pretty neat.
The farrier had performed a wall resection for white line disease on this TB gelding. He could hardly move when he arrived at HoofCareUnLtd. on August 1, 2006. Left to right: Upon arrival - September - November

neurectomy performed after a diagnosis of navicular syndrome. He is

Westphalian Warmblood gelding, trimmed since November 2004
5 year old QH gelding - veterinarian diagnosis: navicular "disease". Unsound. Has trouble standing still before first trim (pictures left). Relaxed after first trim and sound / rideable (pictures right).
8 year old Paint gelding. Veterinarian diagnosis: Collateral ligament damage. After 9 months of stall rest he was still lame and unusable.

16 year old Trakehner mare toed in since she was a foal. Came to HoofCareUnLtd. in August 2004. In March 2006 her hooves are considerably straighter, ringbone on lateral aspect of pastern is greatly reduced. She has passed her mare inspection with the American Trakehner Association and has produced a foal by "Tradition", an approved Trakehner stallion. She lives now in new home Esprit Equestrian Center in Maine.
She came to us in February 2005 with front feet looking like 1 lbs. cans. A 15 year old Morgan mare with an incredible pain threshold. Veterinarian diagnosis: Founder with rotation.

Her incredibly cresty neck has subsided considerably
28 degree rotation on right front, 24 degree rotation on left front. Veterinarian strongly recommends euthanasia. Owner hopes there is another way.

She came to us with a foal by her side in August 2005. She stood only to eat and relieve herself. The foal nursed while she was laying down. The attending veterinarian suggested euthanasia as soon as the foal was weaned. Acute founder with coffin bone protrusion on both fronts. The foal was weaned in October.
In March 2006 she is well on the way to being fully recovered
Sadly this mare died of unknown causes in September 2007. She was found in the morning in the pasture without any signs of deterioration or struggles. Dressage gelding with shelly hooves and underslung heels. After less than 4 months at HoofCareUnLtd. his owner enjoys his new energy and willingness to work

Undetermined lameness plagued this Warmblood gelding. He came to us in November 2004, and went home in March 2005... .
...and started competing again in the fall of 2005. In 2007 he is winning or consistently placing in 3'6" hunter classes
